In short: Logo prices in Austria range from a few euros with a generator to five-figure agency budgets. The price is not determined by hours at the computer, but by analysis, number of drafts, usage rights and the file package. A €50 logo from a generator is not a cheap logo, it is a different product.

A reliable price can only be given after a short conversation. In consultations I regularly see two extremes: clients who bring a logo from a contest platform and cannot have it protected, and five-figure quotes in which a large share goes towards workshops that a small business doesn't need at all.

What am I paying for with a logo?

Analysis instead of gut feeling

Before I start drawing, I look at your competitors. With the logo for Huber Rechtsanwälte , for example, the question was: how does a law firm come across as trustworthy without using scales and columns like everyone else? The answer to that is the real value; the execution in Illustrator is the smaller part.

Drafts and revision rounds

Ask specifically: how many directions will you get to see, and how many revision rounds are included? Three rounds of revisions are standard with me. Vague quotes lead to additional charges later.

Usage rights

A logo is protected by copyright. For your company car, sign and website, you need usage rights that are unlimited in time and territory, set down in writing. Anyone who doesn't clarify this has a problem in the event of a dispute.

The file package

A PNG file is not enough. You need vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, PDF), variants in colour, black and white, a landscape and a compact format for social media and favicon, plus colour values in CMYK, RGB and HEX. I also hand over the open project files.

What does a logo cost for typical project sizes?

Logo generator, contest platform or graphic designer: what is worth it?

Generators deliver a result in minutes that hundreds of other companies use too. A trademark application with the Austrian Patent Office then often fails due to a lack of distinctiveness. Contest platforms deliver lots of drafts, but without analysis and often of unclear origin. A graphic designer develops the mark specifically for your company and supports you until all files have been properly handed over.

How do I compare logo quotes fairly?

Frequently asked questions about logo costs

How long does a logo take?

Often just a few days. What affects the pace most is how quickly feedback comes in.

Do I own the logo afterwards?

You receive the agreed usage rights. Have them confirmed in writing, ideally exclusive and unlimited.

Can I have my old logo revised?

Yes. A redesign is often faster and more affordable than a completely new logo and preserves recognition.
