In short: The cost of a vehicle wrap depends on the scope (lettering, partial or full wrap), the size of the vehicle, the quality of the film and the design. A project runs in five steps: briefing, design on a true-to-scale template, print files, production and installation. On the road, less text almost always works better.
I have been designing vehicle graphics for many years, for example the vehicle wrap for Serafino or the fleet branding for Comdion. Production and installation are handled by experienced partner companies, while design and coordination are in my hands.
What does the cost of a vehicle wrap depend on?
Scope
Logo, services and contact details as cut vinyl lettering are the most affordable option. A partial wrap uses printed areas, while a full wrap covers the entire vehicle.
Vehicle
A small car needs less material than a van. Beads, recessed handles and strong curves increase the installation effort.
Film
Cast films last longer and stretch more easily over curves. Calendered films are sufficient for flat surfaces and shorter use. A laminate protects against scratches and UV light.
design
Door gaps, windows and edges have to be planned for. That requires a true-to-scale template of the exact model.
How does a vehicle wrap project work?
- Briefing: Model, year of manufacture, scope, content and corporate design.
- Design: Drafts on the vehicle template, viewed from all sides.
- Print files: Preparation for plotting or digital printing.
- Production: Printing and lamination at a specialist company.
- Installation: Cleaning, application, sealing the edges.
Practical tips from many vehicle projects
- Three seconds: That is how long people see a car in traffic. A logo, one service and a website or phone number are enough.
- Don't forget the rear: In a traffic jam, people look at your rear, not at the side door.
- Sliding doors and gaps: Text that runs across a gap is hard to read. I always plan the layout on the actual model.
- Consistent with everything else: Vehicle, website and signage should match, see shop signage and trade fair design.
Frequently asked questions about vehicle wraps
How long does a vehicle wrap last?
With good care, high-quality cast films last for many years. Avoid car washes with hard brushes for the first few weeks.
Can the film be removed?
Yes. When removed professionally, the original paintwork usually remains undamaged, which is important for leased vehicles.
